Are you ready for a bigger challenge? We are now looking for Border Control Officers for the Border Police Unit in the Stockholm region, based at the Local Police Area Arlanda. The Border Police Unit is a regional unit in the Stockholm region that works with border controls, internal immigration checks, enforcement of decisions on deportation and expulsion, surveillance and investigation regarding human smuggling, violations of the Aliens Act, and cross-border international serious organized crime within Stockholm County and Gotland. The Border Police Unit has the regional responsibility for international contacts regarding, among other things, border police issues, intelligence, and alerts.

At the border police, you are Sweden's face to the outside world:

  • You are the first person travelers meet upon arrival in Sweden.
  • You work to protect Sweden's and Schengen states' borders.
  • You work to prevent human trafficking, smuggling, and illegal labor in collaboration with other authorities.

Job Description

The Local Police Area Arlanda is responsible for border controls, immigration checks, and order and safety at the airport. As a border control officer, you work based on intelligence, and your work includes, among other things, profiling travelers and checking travel documents for arrivals and departures to and from the Schengen area. You will also participate in other initiatives within the framework of the Border Police Unit's work.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Swedish high school diploma with passing grades in Swedish, English, mathematics, and social studies. (alternatively, a corresponding foreign high school diploma where the grades are translated and validated by UHR).
  • At least 1 year of documented work experience in full-time employment during the last five years (military service counts as work experience).
  • Very good experience with computers as a working tool in your daily work.
  • Very good language skills, both spoken and written, in Swedish and English.
  • Ability to move freely, as the daily work can be physically demanding.
  • Driver's license B.
  • Swim competent, 200 meters breaststroke (certificate required).
  • Normal color vision (certificate required).
  • Swedish citizenship.

Applicants will undergo tests in Swedish, English, and geographical knowledge related to the Border Police Unit's operations. Drug tests may be conducted during the process.

It is advantageous if you also have:

  • Experience in border control work within the EU/Schengen and have completed training in border control at the external border.
  • Post-secondary education in, for example, criminology, political science, law, or equivalent as assessed relevant by the employer.
  • Good geographical knowledge (will be tested).
  • Completed Swedish military service or GMU.

Swimming & Color Vision Certificates and High School Diploma

Employment type: Permanent employment with a six-month probationary period

Work location: Arlanda Airport

Working hours: Shift work, hours are scheduled for all hours of the day and year-round

Start date: Week 35, 2026
